Capital Market Awareness Campaign 2012

The Capital Market Awareness Campaign concluded its fifth tour in the Government of Muscat. The campaign was organized by CMA in collaboration with MSM and MCDC within their awareness endeavors to disseminate investment, saving and insurance  culture among all segments of the community.

The campaign started early last week by visits to schools in the Government of Muscat targeting students, teachers and administrative staff of schools.

Five awareness seminars were delivered during the period 13-17 October 2012 on the capital and insurance markets. A lecture was delivered on Saturday at Shatti Al Qurum Girls Schools and Al Imam Jaber bin Zaid Boys School on Sunday, Al Wadi Al Kabir Girls School on Monday and then Ruwi Girsl School and the campaign concluded the tour on Wednesday by visiting Sultan Faisal bin Torky Boys School.

The awareness Campaign 2012 aims at introducing the role of CMA as regulator of the capital and insurance markets as well as explaining the role of MSM and MCDC. It also aims at educating investors and policyholders on the various aspects of the sectors and to upgrade the level of investment and insurance culture which would positively reflect on the  performance of the sectors in addition to emphasizing the importance of saving and investment for school, college and university students as well as Omani Women Association in the various Wilayats of the Sultanate. The campaign would also contribute to discussing economic and financial topics relevant to capital and insurance markets.

The 2012 campaign was organized after the success of the campaign in the first year in which it covered all the governorates of the Sultanate and reaching the various segments of the community to explain the concepts of the securities markets and work methods in addition to explaining insurance culture which concerns a large segment of the community.

The  campaign targets specific categories at all its destinations and throughout the Sultanate to introduce the capital and insurance culture through lectures and seminars in addition to distribution of publications and awareness leaflets showing the dealing in these sectors. The campaign comprises experts and professional who tour specific areas to deliver the awareness message in an appropriate method for the targeted segment.

The awareness campaign comprises professionals and experts in the capital market which is an opportunity to enhance the continuous association between the legislative, regulatory and executive entities and the community to closely acquaint them with the role of the capital and insurance markets through working papers specifically prepared for specific segment as regards the contents and method of the awareness message. The working papers focus on topics such as ways of investment in securities, basics of sound investment , reality of consumer culture and boosting savings culture in addition to topics on insurance such as role and importance.
